Want this calculated for you automatically, every cycle? PeriodVol works like a digital pictorial chart but goes further — it estimates your loss in millilitres, marks the 80 ml line, predicts your next period, and can make a doctor report. It's free and private.

What the score means

This is a screening aid based on the Pictorial Blood Loss Assessment Chart (Higham 1990), not a diagnosis. Scores vary with how you judge "soaked," and the 100 cut-off is a guide, not a hard line. For how the chart works and how clot size is defined, see menstrual blood loss charts.

Frequently asked questions

How is the PBAC scored?

Pads: 1 / 5 / 20 points (light / moderate / saturated). Tampons: 1 / 5 / 10. Small clot 1, large clot 5, each flooding episode 5. Add across the whole period.

What PBAC score is heavy?

A total of 100 or more suggests probable menorrhagia (≈ over 80 ml per cycle).

Is this calculator private?

Yes — it runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent or stored. The PeriodVol app keeps ongoing tracking on your own device.

Is a PBAC score the same as millilitres?

No — it's a point score where ~100 lines up with the 80 ml threshold. PeriodVol converts products directly into estimated millilitres instead.
